Golf Etiquette

To Speed Up Play
- Play without delay.
- Leave the green as soon as all golfers in your group have finished the hole.
- Invite faster groups to play through.
- Be ready to play when it is your turn. Proceed to the ball as soon as it’s safe to prepare your shot.
- On the green, survey the slop and lie of your ball while other players are putting if you can do so without distracting others.
- When driving the cart, drop a player off at their ball with several clubs, and if it’s safe, drop a second player off at their ball. This way the two players can both prepare their shots at the same time. If you can take the cart off the cart path, drive the cart until it is roughly even with your ball and take several clubs with you to your ball. If you have no idea what club you will need, take your golf bag off the cart and take it with you to your ball.

To Keep Course In Good Playing Shape
- Replace the divots.
- Smooth out footprints and club marks in bunkers with a rake.
- Don’t drop your clubs on a putting green.
- Leave the course in the shape you’d like to play it.
|

Good Sportsmanship
- Don’t move, talk or stand to close to or directly behind a player making a stroke. Standing behind a player’s target is a violation of the rules if the player can see you out of the corner of their eye and it becomes a distraction.
- Don’t step on the line of another player’s putt.
- Replace the flagstick in an upright position.
- Remove your ball from the hole immediately after you make a putt or chip shot.
- If you pull or chip your ball near the hole, but do not plan to immediately putt out, mark your ball with a coin or marker.
- Don’t play until the group in front of you is out of the way.

Remember, the game of golf is meant to be a true measure of a player's ability and degree of sportsmanship. Golf is at its most enjoyable when everyone who plays is courteous to their fellow golfers.
